Marshmallow Root

Botanical Name: Althaea officinalis

Marshmallow root, know scientifically as Althaea officinalis, native to western Europe and Northern Africa, flourishes in wet, damp soils. The root portions of the herb contain significant quantities of mucilage, this property acts to soothe the throat from dry coughs. Additionally, marshmallow salves and tinctures are known to speed in the recovery of healing wounds and other skin condition, such as eczema.
