Tulsi is traditionally appreciated to both promote calm and energize the mind and body through its adaptogenic qualities. Adaptogenic herbs help us adapt to stress and are non-specific, normalizing and considered non-toxic. Adaptogens promote balance in the body, and include mushrooms, berries and other herbs including ashwagandha root. In Ayurveda, tulsi is referred to as the “Great Protector,” and believed to support immune health, strengthen digestion, and decrease inflammation. This herb can promote overall wellbeing and longevity by helping us feel more hopeful and more in tune with the world around us.
Bees love this botanical, and our honey at the farm contains aromatic fruity and floral notes. Tulsi basil is one of the most popular herbs we produce. We love growing this annual, and it thrives in our climate. We can typically get two to three harvests of this herb in a season. As a basil, the herb really doesn’t like cold, so we aim to finish harvesting before the first frost. Visitors to the farm always know when it’s the tulsi harvest, as sweet floral aromas not unlike bubblegum fill the air when we’re drying.
Enjoy our tulsi basil in the Stress Adapt tea blend, and single-origin botanical extract.
