We started seeding on Monday, and we couldn't be happier to be back in the greenhouse, touching warm soil, and planting trays whilst in t-shirts and light sweaters.
Lucy and Theresa are a dynamic duo, and seeded together last year too. This time of year, Lucy bounces between seeding in the greenhouse and fulfilling orders in the warehouse as needed.
With this seeder, we can seed upwards of 200+ trays in a day! That's ~60,000 plugs in one eight-hour shift!
We started with skullcap this week. We topped the seeds with vermiculite, which is known to improve soil structure by increasing nutrient and water retention, along with soil aeration.
Snow fell yesterday morning, but when we're in the greenhouse or sitting on the ridge at the top of the farm watching the sun set later in the day, we can feel the warmer and brighter days upon us.
